- Techniplas Unveils Innovative Intelligent Vehicle Lighting on Rinspeed Oasis at CES
- Techniplas’ Proprietary lighting solutions help shape and define vehicle connectivity
Nashotah, WI. Dec. 23, 2016 – Techniplas, a leading provider of sophisticated modules and systems to the automotive industry, has partnered with Rinspeed, the renowned automotive think tank, to create Oasis, a unique, self-driving electric concept vehicle that will be showcased at The Hard Rock Hotel, Harman Booth: Venetian Tower – Suite 30-101 at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) in Las Vegas, Jan. 5-8, 2017. Techniplas intelligent lighting technology is transitioning the traditional discrete functionalty of lighting and styling into a rich human machine interface that is redefining the overall user experience and vehicle communication. Techniplas plans to demonstrate its latest connected solutions by invitation only at CES.
Techniplas developed the unique multi-functional rear window for the Oasis. It delivers all of the traditional light functionality for a rear window and much more. The innovative display panel features an integrated micro delivery box, a “drawer” which slides in and out of the rear with built-in cooling or heating storage controls. The box is sized to fit a power recharging unit designed to extend the range of the Oasis and help overcome one of consumers’ biggest concerns for electric vehicles, range anxiety. With this Box the Oasis can also be used as a utility vehicle for delivering packages, food, etc.
“Lighting has really not changed that much since the car was first introduced in the beginning of the last century”, said Techniplas CEO Kim Korth. “It has been used for strictly functional applications such as headlights, taillights or interior dials and bezels. What we are demonstrating on the Oasis is the future of lighting as a game changer for vehicle connectivity, utility, personalization and customization”.
The self-driving Swiss vehicle is intended to push the envelope on autonomous thinking – with a host of technical and visual advancements. In a recent review of the Oasis in New Atlas, they said; “Rinspeed branches out into various directions to make the boxy vehicle a tour de force of futuristic multi-function.” The Oasis is Rinspeed’s 23rd concept car and represents a growing partnership between Rinspeed and Techniplas.

Video – Rinspeed Oasis concept – Garden on wheels for the urban jungle
You can count on Swiss automotive visionary Frank M. Rinderknecht when it comes to reimagining mobility. With the Rinspeed concept vehicle “Oasis,” the ingenious self-driving electric vehicle for the city and surrounding areas, he refutes the deeply ingrained notion of the urban jungle that requires SUVs the size of battle tanks for the daily struggle for survival. His alternative concept: a maneuverable speedster with an integrated small garden plot behind the windshield.
